FAQs for Our Doggie Daycare in Horsham, PA
Learn More About Dog Daycare at K9 Resorts
Is doggie daycare good for dogs? Why?
Doggie daycare is good for many dogs, as it offers socialization, exercise, mental stimulation, and professional care. Let’s dive into some of the benefits:
- Socialization: Regular interaction with other dogs helps improve social skills, build confidence, and reduce fear or aggression in unfamiliar situations. Dogs learn proper play behavior and how to communicate effectively with their peers.
- Exercise: Active play sessions throughout the day keep dogs physically fit, help manage weight, and prevent excess energy buildup that can lead to destructive behaviors at home.
- Mental Stimulation: Engaging activities, new environments, and interaction with both dogs and caregivers provide essential mental enrichment, preventing boredom and promoting overall well-being!
- Routine and Structure: A consistent schedule of play, rest, and enrichment helps reinforce good behavior and provides a sense of security, reducing stress and unpredictability in your dog’s day.
- Reduced Separation Anxiety: Spending time in a structured and stimulating environment with attentive caregivers helps ease the anxiety and loneliness that can come from being left home alone for long periods.
Do you separate dogs by size in dog daycare?
Yes, we do! We provide small dog daycare for dogs under 30 pounds, and large dog daycare for dogs over 30 pounds. This ensures that every dog can play and interact in a safe environment appropriate for their size and energy levels. With size separation, we reduce the risk of accidental injuries and create a more fun experience for your furry friend.
How often should I take my dog to daycare?
The best frequency for daycare can vary depending on your dog’s needs and your schedule, though we recommend you take your dog to daycare as often as possible! Dogs that enjoy socializing with other dogs and people can thrive with regular daycare visits. For these dogs, 2-4 times a week is usually ideal. High-energy dogs often benefit from attending daycare frequently, consistent attendance can help with behavior training and social skills, and if you have a busy schedule or long work hours, regular daycare visits can provide your pup with extra interaction and exercise.
What vaccinations does my pet need to participate in daycare?
At K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel Horsham, we require up-to-date vaccinations for the following: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella (with a strong preference for "Merck Nobivac Intra-trac3" Intranasal), and Canine Influenza (with a strong preference for the "Nobivac Canine Flu Bivalent" version, which protects against both H3N8 and H3N2 strains).
What is a dog daycare evaluation? What happens during the evaluation?
Our trained and certified staff evaluates every dog on their first day, to ensure the safest and most fun environment possible. During our routine evaluation process, we assess your dog’s temperament and compatibility with a group of dogs to determine whether your dog is best suited for group play or one-on-one activities. Typically lasting at least three hours, we introduce your dog to others gradually. This helps them meet the group at a comfortable pace, and encourages you to leave them for the day to fully enjoy the experience.
How much notice needs to be given to cancel or change my dog's daycare reservation?
Please notify us ASAP if your dog's daycare plans change. No deposit is required for daycare reservations, and cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance incur no penalty. However, cancellations within 72 hours of the reservation will result in a full daycare charge to the credit card on file or the deduction of one day from your daycare package. Refunds are not available.
